Email Marketing Builds Relationships

The great thing about email marketing is that you don’t have to have an existing relationship in order to contact a potential customer or recruit.

In the old days, you had to go door to door or make cold calls, but with email marketing, you simply send out your sales letter. Of course, you can’t spam people. You have to have their permission to send the email first and you have to have an opt-out link at the bottom in case they decide they don’t want to receive your letters any more.
The people that want to stay on your mailing list will come to count on your newsletters, and occasionally buy something you have to offer. If your product is a business opportunity, then your emails will be even more valuable because your recipients will learn from you. A newsletter software can help you.

Knowledge is Power

Before you start email marketing, get to know your product. Learn everything you can so that you can help others. All people have needs and problems. It is up to you to solve these problems or fill these needs. The more people you can help, the more successful you will be.

Never stop learning, either. You will never know everything, plus new products or ideas will be created, so you can never stop learning and teaching others what you have learned. The more you know, the more valuable you will become. People will seek you out to gain the knowledge you have.

Writing the First Email

Some email marketers will jump right in with both feet without even looking at where they might land. This can be deadly to your career. Of course, the people you send your emails to will already know something about you and your company, otherwise they would not have joined your opt-in list. But don’t assume they know too much. Go to if you want to learn other information about email marketing.

In fact, assume they know nothing. So, your first email should be an introduction. Tell them who you are, what you do and how you can help them. Keep it short and to the point. You may want to add a small picture of yourself to break up the text a bit and to give them a face to go with the letter. But, don’t try to sell them anything. To build a relationship, you have to first build trust.
